The MIT-AFRICA Initiative is the first organized public face for MIT engagement in Africa that communicates and coordinates engagement in Africa, as well as acts as a point of entry for new partnerships, while enhancing collaboration among faculty.
A major contribution is the Africa Advisory Committee (AAC), serving as a strategic planning group for MIT. Membership is drawn from faculty or staff members with active programs in Africa, African faculty and students. Another contribution is the MIT-AFRICA Interest Group Dinners (MAIG) with the goal to provide a forum for MIT faculty, staff, students and alumni to share and connect.
Below is the reach of MIT's engagements across the continent. Click here for additional detail.
The MIT-AFRICA Alliance
The MIT-AFRICA Alliance is a select group of government, industrial, and academic partners seeking to collaborate with MIT students and faculty with experience or focus on the continent. Every partner relationship is customized to meet the specific, intersecting needs of the organization and MIT. Sponsors enjoy a variety of core benefits, like enhanced visibility on campus and an advantageous platform for recruiting. They also enjoy privileged access to MIT's research community and the opportunity to develop collaborative ventures with MIT faculty and students.
