Students often say that MISTI is the best thing they've ever done. And the experience doesn't end on the flight home.
Are you a MISTI alum? We want to hear from you!

We can’t wait to hear about your experience, and we would love to help you continue the journey! All MISTI alumni are encouraged to apply for another MISTI program. Here are some additional ways to maintain the MISTI connection.

Minor in Applied International Studies

The MAIS is designed to help students integrate a practical, applied international experience into a coherent course of study. The minor is built around four key principles:

  • local understanding with a global perspective
  • theory combined with in-the-field experience
  • applied cross-cultural communication skills
  • independent research skills

The result is a comprehensive plan of study that allows students to gain the skills necessary for a productive, sustainable career in the global economy.

MISTI Ambassador Program

Do you love talking about everything you learned and did during your MISTI experience? Become a MISTI Ambassador!

MISTI Ambassadors play a vital role in helping us spread the word about MISTI to students, faculty and potential donors. Ambassadors serve a one-year term and typically attend one or two MISTI events per semester.

Let your program manager know if you're intersted in becoming a MISTI Ambassador.

MISTI Mentors

Lead the way for the next generation of MISTI students.

The MISTI Mentors Program matches program alumni with current students interning in the same country or working in the same field.  This program brings you, the mentor, new tools for sharing your international experience while also preparing your mentee for the road ahead.

Potential mentors are expected to take part in an online training session before being matched up with one or two MISTI students. Once matched, MISTI Mentors meet one-on-one with each student mentee during the spring semester (in-person or via Skype), and they check in with the student during his/her internship abroad (in-person or via email, Skype, or phone).

Contact your program manager if you are interested in becoming a MISTI Mentor.
