Almog's Story

Almog Hillel (AI & Decision Making '25) traveled to Warsaw, Poland, in the summer 2024, where had the opportunity to work with the UA-Teens and Ukraine Leadership and Technology Academy (ULTA), teaching and mentoring 20 rigorously-selected Ukrainian high school students.

Ukraine Leadership and Technology Academy (ULTA) is a tuition-free educational program for Ukrainian high school students in grades 9 and 10. Participants show a strong passion for technology, active engagement in their communities, proficiency in English, and enthusiasm for learning from MIT mentors. Using MIT’s open education resources, ULTA aims to bridge the rigor of MIT education and the perspectives of Ukrainian students.

“MIT ULTA selects Ukraine's brightest high school students and equips them with best practices in cutting-edge technologies and communication to help them become future leaders of Ukraine. My internship project involved mentoring these students on AI, leadership, communication, and societal biases.” - Almog Hillel

“I learned that directly impacting human lives through mentorship is incredibly fulfilling for me. Working closely with students and addressing their challenges made me realize that helping others grow—both personally and professionally—provides a level of satisfaction unmatched by any other experience. This has strengthened my resolve to pursue roles where I can directly contribute to others’ development, whether through mentoring, teaching, or leadership roles.”
