Charlie's story

After participating in Global Teaching Labs Spain, Charlie Black '27, a computer science and molecular biology major, loved the people, culture, and scenery and wanted to learn the language! This past summer, he worked at the Dayside Laboratory for the Foundation of Public Health and Sciences in Andalusia.

“I loved my time in Spain so much. I expanded my horizons and gained so many different perspectives about the world. Traveling and working in a different country pushed me and made me into a new person, influenced by the amazing people and experiences I had in Spain.”

“I want to possibly do an MD-PhD track after undergrad, and this experience is exactly the type of work that I would be doing in that field. No matter what I do, I think it will be at the intersection of medicine and machine learning, so these projects were perfect experience in building predictive diagnostic models, something I will do a lot of later.”
