Corina's story

Corina Arimond '27, a chemical engineering major, interned at MainPower NZ, an energy distribution company located in Rangiora, New Zealand, over the summer of 2025.

"My internship project focused on harmonic distortions caused by distributed generation (in this case mainly solar). I was researching harmonics standards and background information, working with the currently available harmonic data from their network, trying a new harmonics module in their current modeling software, and trying a demonstration license for a new modeling software," Corina shared.

"This experience is making me consider moving back to NZ sometime in the future. I'm also better appreciating real-world experience to help prepare for a career, and I want to take advantage of more internship /research opportunities to gain perspectives in the future."
