David's story

David Sanwo '29, a mechanical engineering major, interned at the Dyson School of Design Engineering at Imperial College London over the summer of 2026. This experience abroad has given him the confidence to venture into something unknown and enjoy a different culture.

"My internship project was research on the psychological impacts of artificial intelligence in advertising and commerce, and I spearheaded this project under the direct supervision of Dr. Van Zalk, which included a comprehensive review of current literature on design psychology, digital safety, and artificial intelligence, then drawing conclusions and the creation of two theoretical frameworks for how AI can be further integrated, and speculation on the greater society implications of each framework."

"I learned that working in a different country and culture, even if its similar to your own, is intriguing and can be difficult at times, solely because there are specific norms that exist in a country that you're not entirely used to. It's also a rewarding experience, as I could learn and expand my horizons into different cultures, and connect with myself and have greater confidence in my own culture by noticing these differences."
