Erin's story

Erin Liu '25, MEng '27, enjoyed the office lifestyle while interning in Taiwan and was proud that she completed a thorough research project that had meaningful results. This experience confirmed her decision to pursue a PhD even more.

"My host organization was the Hon Hai Research Institute of Foxconn.  My project was investigating state-of-art vision language models (VLMs) on picture-sentence semantic congruency."

" I oversaw the entire project, from coming up with the idea, literature review, designing my own data stimuli, recruiting human participants, testing on 28 different VLMs from 7 different model families, to writing a paper and submitting it to ACL Rolling Review, and finally, presenting it at the final internship presentation."
