Skye W and two others in a factory in France

Skye's story

After this internship abroad, mechanical engineering major Skye Williams '28 hopes to work on challenging projects and collaborate with people from different backgrounds as she pursues her career.

"I was working at Safran Aircraft Engines under the Mounts and Nacelle Specification and Integration. My project focused on developing an alternative method for optimizing mount system components. This experience has made me want to continue seeking opportunities to live and work outside of the United States. I hope to incorporate international experiences into my future, whether through work or potentially living abroad. My internship also strengthened my interest in pursuing a career in engineering, particularly in the aerospace field, where I hope to work on challenging projects and collaborate with people from different backgrounds."

"My favorite part of my MISTI experience was being able to experience a different culture firsthand and see how cultural differences extend beyond everyday life into the professional environment. Living and working in France and Europe gave me the opportunity to step into new environments and see different parts of the world."
