Janae's story

Janae Frimpong '29, a chemical engineering major, gained insight into chemical engineering concepts she hadn't yet been introduced to while working at UCLouvain. Working and living in Belgium for the summer also gave her the opportunity to practice her French!

"I was hosted by the materials and civil engineering department of UCLouvain. My project focused on modeling the intrinsic kinetics of an iron catalyst during the steam-iron oxidation/reduction process. While working on the project I was able to contribute my own model of the reduction phase of the reaction.  I learned a lot both academically and personally, and I never would have thought that I would have an opportunity like this when I first applied to MIT."

"This summer truly opened my eyes and made me realize that there really is a whole world that I have yet to explore. There are so many languages to learn, people to meet, and cultures to engage in. I am so thankful that this summer I was able to take such a beautiful journey across the world!"
