Isaac's Story

Isaac Gendler (MA Urban Science and Planning '25) traveled to the Hauge, the Netherlands, in the summer 2024, to work with Vid Sertsya Budova, in collaboration with PosadMaxwan architects, on planning a new housing community for 25,000 Ukrainians who have been internally displaced by the war.

"The Ukrainian NGO Vid Sertsya Budova (Ukrainian for “Building from the Heart”) endeavors to create a new city near Kyiv to house 25,000 Ukrainian refugees and displaced people to live in a safe, sustainable environment. The project intends to thoroughly address the critical infrastructure requirements essential for the city's successful development and long-term sustainability. I created a report covering the new city’s heating, electricity, water, and waste service needs and solutions to provide them." -Isaac Gendler
