Kristian's Story

Kristian Praizner (BS Artificial Intelligence and Decision Making '26) traveled to Trondheim, Norway, in summer 2025 to work on developing drone technology for detecting war remnants.

“SINTEF is a research organization in Norway with many different branches. I specifically worked in the Industry Branch focused on geophysics. I, along with my fellow MISTI colleague, developed a software suite for drone operators to quickly analyze their sensor outputs while on the field. The sensors they used included a ground penetrating radar, magnetometer, multispectral camera, and gamma ray spectrometer. This is integral for de-mining operations in Ukraine as they have little time to work and the current data visualization/validation methods are very slow and heavy.” -Kristian Praizner

“The experience gave me a lot of career experience and the ability to work alongside high level scientists. It also helped me further my software engineering knowledge and skillset.

I hope to continue working on maintaining the software in the future. I hope it gets used and new bugs are found so that I can fix them and make the product better. We also plan to give our presentation to more people on campus to further the Ukraine discussion.”
