Kumail's story

PhD candidate at the Healthy ML group at MIT, Kumail Alhamoud interned at the Hon Hai Research Institute (HHRI) flagship AI initiatives, FoxBrain. Read how this experience has broadened his career options while also increasing his technical expertise and research portfolio.

"I interned with the AI team at the Hon Hai Research Institute (HHRI), a research division of Hon Hai Precision Industry Co., Ltd., a world-leading technology manufacturing company. HHRI focuses on advancing artificial intelligence, robotics, and other frontier technologies to support Hon Hai’s products and services. At MIT, my PhD research and the NLP course gave me a solid foundation in LLM development and post-training. MIT constantly challenged me to tackle the hardest technical problems and put in long hours to fully grasp complex concepts, which made the internship work feel very manageable. During the internship, I gained new skills in working on large-scale industry projects, reporting to senior management, and proposing research ideas with a clear path to tangible impact," shared Kumail.
