Lucas' Story

Lucas Puig interned at Itaú Unibanco, the largest bank in South America, through the MIT-Brazil Program. Working in the Operational Risk Department, Lucas developed risk models for the bank's Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) initiatives.

I worked in the operational risk department, using SQL and AWS to create risk models for the bank regarding ESG. My project was to create risk models, and during the last week, I gave a final presentation to the director of the operational risk department. I used my coding and problem-solving abilities from MIT to do this. I had to use creativity to figure out how to create these models for the bank. During my time there I learned SQL and how to use AWS.

"There is only one way to describe my experience in Brazil and at Itau: life changing. I had the opportunity to spend my summer in an amazing country all while working at one of the largest banks in the world. This not only gave me the chance to have a deeper understanding of how the corporate world works, but it also gave me the opportunity to immerse myself in an incredible culture. "
