Through an annual call for proposals, the fund promotes the exchange between faculty and students at MIT and at universities and public research institutions in Jordan. Proposals will fit within the Abdul Hameed Shoman Foundation priority areas to promote international, collaborative research focused on:
- Environment and Climate Change: Environmental Engineering, Water Resource Engineering and Management
- Manufacturing and Innovation: Lean and Modern Technologies, Automation, Nanotechnology
- Entrepreneurship
- Engineering: Nuclear Engineering, Materials Engineering, Energy and Thermal Engineering
- Health: Biomedical Engineering, Prostheses, Computational Neuroscience and Technology
- Planning and Development: Social and Management Sciences
- Urban Studies and Planning
- Science, Technology and Society
- Innovation in Education
- Arabic language Automation
- Food Security and Sustainable Agriculture
The MIT-Jordan Abdul Hameed Shoman Foundation Seed Fund is a part of MISTI Global Seed Funds. All general MISTI Global Seed Funds criteria, application and evaluation procedures apply.
Priority will be given to projects that:
- present a balanced exchange between the participants
- demonstrate complementarity between the teams
- involve undergraduate and graduate students
The maximum award is $30,000.
