Paulo's story

Paulo Henrique dos Santos Silva '27 worked at the Laboratory for Large Scale Computer Systems (LASIGE) in the University of Lisbon, a research facility focused on the development of reliable software systems. He shared that this summer abroad not only helped shape his academic and career goals but also expanded his global perspective. This experience has also motivated him to pursue study and work opportunities in Europe.

"During my internship, I worked on a project focused on automated program generation using the Aeon programming language. At the end of my internship, I gained the experience of writing my first research paper, through which I learned to document my work carefully and explain my ideas clearly. I also made a presentation for the whole laboratory about my results at the end of my internship, exercising my communication skills."

"Beyond the technical work, the internship confirmed my passion for software engineering and scientific research, and it was a valuable cultural immersion. I adapted to the local language, embraced new traditions, and built strong relationships with my peers, all while exploring Portugal and other European countries."
