Riley's Story

After an internship at a startup in Amsterdam, Netherlands, Riley Oh '25 is considering a career in Europe. What she loves most about being at a startup is the fast-paced work and the tight-knit relationships she's built with colleagues.

"Part of my project was to construct a demo of these capabilities in a specific use case. I used the tool to process ESG metrics I extracted from ESG reports to support the end goal of building a hierarchy of these metrics.  The other part of my project was to contribute to their open-source project Hugot, which allows Go developers to run huggingface pipelines in Go. I created baseline tests for this tool, as well as expanded its pipeline support.  I gained experience in the full software development pipeline, starting from the brainstorming phase, to the implementing phase, to the testing phase, and finally the deployment phase."

"This experience supported my career goals because it exposed me to what it's like to work at a startup. I really enjoyed the fast-paced work, closeness with colleagues, and small company feel. Working in Amsterdam and Utrecht also made me realize that I loved living abroad and is really making me consider career opportunities in Europe."
