Sofia's story

Sofia Espindola De La Mora '29, a climate system science and engineering major, interned at the Department of Earth Sciences. Some new skills she developed included presenting technical work and networking.

"I met so many amazing scientists and made so many connections. I also ended the internship with a concrete product, PrecipLib, a python library with the goal of facilitating the ground validation process of satellite precipitation data... This experience has confirmed my future goals of joining academia."

"I learned that I am highly adaptable to working in many different environments and in different languages. This experience influenced my decision in my future work, as I enjoyed working on this project a lot and I plan on looking for more research in similar areas."
