Sophia's story

Electrical engineering and computer science major Sophia Woodbury '28 spent her summer 2025 interning at Kerala Startup Mission. This experience allowed her to explore what career she wanted.

"At Kerala StartUp Mission, I worked on developing a STEM learning kit for middle school students. I also helped assemble an interactive tech sculpture. I learned a lot about writing curriculum and teaching, and my CAD skills improved a lot. I had never worked with the combination of art and engineering before, so I learned a lot. It also helped me learn skills that will complement my career and academic path that I might not have had a good opportunity to practice or learn otherwise."

"This experience genuinely changed my life. I had an amazing summer, learned about myself and so much about the world outside anything I had ever experienced. I had the amazing opportunity to be fully immersed in a different culture, which shifted many of my perspectives."
