Stephen's story

Stephen Hong '25, a computer science and engineering major, interned at Hostelworld, a global online booking platform focused on budget accommodations. Through this experience, he has been challenged to embrace being outside his comfort zone, and it has reinforced his desire to build tech that serves others across cultures and geographies.

"My project involved developing an AI-powered hostel booking agent designed to interact with users via natural language. My contributions included designing the agent’s conversational flow, implementing input extraction logic, and integrating the backend API calls."

"Being able to live and work abroad gave me a new perspective on global collaboration, cultural adaptability, and the kind of career I want to pursue. I gained valuable technical skills, built confidence in new environments, and created memories that will stay with me for a lifetime."
