Amy's Story

Amy Wang took her skills she gained in her classes to Mexico, where she performed surgery and recorded electrophysiological data from mice, wrote custom programs to analyze and visualize data, and troubleshot problems as they arose.

"This experience helped me learn the process of research in a different lab environment, which will help me be a more adaptable and grounded researcher in the future. I also learned a lot about current literature on tauopathy and Alzheimer's disease, which supports my interest in learning about, researching, and treating neurodegenerative disease. Finally, this experience helped me become more comfortable speaking Spanish, which will help me in my Spanish classes at MIT as well as in my work as an aspiring future doctor."
