"My time abroad was so fundamental to how I understand the world and my contribution to it. MISTI allowed me to get so far out of the MIT bubble, think about broader contexts, and value the scientific contributions of other places amongst a US-centric scientific community. I got to challenge the prejudices I harbor by being a Westerner, and as a result, I know I am more open-minded than I began. The people I met made me more thankful for my travel experience every day, and I am confident that I will remember this experience for the rest of my life!"Rachel Mohammed '27
