Elaine's story

Elaine Chang '29, an electrical engineering and computer science major, was able to apply skills from her coursework in computer science, AI, and data analysis throughout her internship. After working abroad, she is more adaptable and independent, becoming more comfortable with uncertainty and taking initiative to solve her own problems.

"I was hosted by the Music Theranostics Laboratory at King’s College London. The lab focuses on exploring how music and physiological data can be used to better understand and support health outcomes. I worked on optimizing data workflows for music theranostics by processing and analyzing both physiological and music performance data."

"This experience supported my academic and career goals by giving me hands on experience applying my background in artificial intelligence, data analysis, and programming to a real world research problem. Working with physiological and music data helped me explore how machine learning can be applied to healthcare and strengthened my interest in using AI to address interdisciplinary problems."
