Catherine's story

What better combination for an internship than the mesmerizing scenery of the South of France and an amazing neuroscience program at Aix-Marseille Université? Electrical engineering and computer science major Catherine Haley '28 worked the Centre de Recherche en Psychologie et Neurosciences in Marseille, France.

"I did my internship at CNRS Aix-Marseille Université. I worked in the MeMoPsy Lab which specializes in studying memory processes. I worked on an experiment to gather data on response times of visual word stimuli to speech production. I created, published, and processed all the data for this experiment. I learned that I enjoy a work environment that is more relaxed and easy going. I feel more productive and enjoyed going to work. I also learned that I love to travel and see the world. This impacted my path by showing me what a great work environment looks like. I am going to look for this in future jobs. I also want to continue to study and learn French and go back to France in the future."

"I believe I had some of the most formative experiences of my life going to France. I have lived in the US my whole life and it had kinda felt like a bubble. I had felt like I knew the world and what was happening but actually living in another country for 2 months has definitely opened my eyes."
