Jordan's Story

An experience in Mexico for Jordan Lacsamana '29, a brain and cognitive science major, that confirmed her desire to study medicine. She also learned more about Mexican culture in Querétaro through its people and their stories.

“Being able to learn about Mexican culture in Querétaro through the city, people, and their stories is something I will value and hold dear to me for a long time. This experience made an impact not only on my academic goals for my future at MIT and beyond, but also my character and life I want to live going forward.”

"“This experience certified my desires to study medicine. The research I did was on cancer in a lab setting, and I was fascinated by the science of how cancer works and what they were researching to better understand and treat it. However, I realized that I would really love meeting with the patients I want to treat because having that personal connection outside of a lab is important to me too.”
