Josiah's story

Recent mechanical engineering graduate Josiah Shimandle had hands-on conservation fieldwork during his summer internship on the Great Barrier Reef with the Australian Institute of Marine Science.

"I worked with the Australian Institute of Marine Science's technology development team to onboard and test a new autonomous and remotely operated underwater vehicle to support scientists in marine research and field expeditions."

"My favorite part of my MISTI experience was exploring the natural environment of the Great Barrier Reef and meeting new people in Townsville of different experiences and backgrounds."
