Julia's Story

As part of her MIT-Ukraine 2024 summer internship, Julia Hoeffner (Mechanical Engineering '26) spent one month working at SaferGlobe in Helsinki, Finland, and one month working at the Ukrainian Center in Vilnius, Lithuania.

“SaferGlobe is a peace and security think tank. There, I developed materials for a workshop at the Nordic-Ukraine Advocacy Summit, facilitated the workshop at the Nordic-Ukraine Advocacy Summit, attended an EU meeting on social innovation for security in Europe. … At the Ukrainian Center in Lithuania, another MIT intern (Luka Srsic) and I ran STEM activities at a kids’ summer camp. The goal was to make science fun for the kids.”
