Lilian's story

Lilian Gan '29 enjoyed going into work every day during her summer internship in Hong Kong. This experience solidified her desire to pursue a career that uses computation to create efficiency and help solve interesting problems.

"The company I interned at this summer is a hedge fund that uses systematic quantitative trading to make high returns. During my internship, I was first given an onboarding project where I built pipelines that improved efficiency for when I started working with real datasets."

"I tested over 25 signals, and many had very promising theoretical results. I created production pipelines for the calculation of the more promising signals, so they could be incorporated into the firm’s system. In the end, one of the signals I researched and validated successfully made it into the firm’s actual production system."
