Mark R.'s story

Electrical engineering and computer science senior Mark Razanau took the communication and software development skills he learned at MIT to Symphony, a compliant messaging platform based in France. During his 3-month summer internship, he learned new technologies and frameworks while honing his French skills.

Symphony is a compliant messaging platform focused on providing financial institutions with the tools they need to compliantly send financial messages. I worked specifically with the Federation team that is focused on integration with external platforms such as WhatsApp. This summer I worked on a proof of concept for a gamification extension that provides users with an overview of their usage of the Federation tool. This experience really allowed me to explore the possibility of working outside the US and how working in a different culture and environment would feel. With this being such a positive experience, I definitely consider international collaboration a super important element when looking for my next place to work.

This experience has positively affected my outlook on the importance of collaboration between engineers from different countries, as well as looking to possibly work abroad in the future.
