Meagan at the microscope

Meagan's Story

Meagan (Biological Engineering, '24) interned in Barcelona, Spain at the Centre for Genomic Regulation (CRG), where she studied non-genetic variation in aging via genetic manipulation of C. elegans worms.

"I used my skills of scientific inquiry to ask questions about potential issues with experiments, as well as other paths of experimentation. I developed new lab skills and learned how to interact in a larger lab setting."

"I learned that I can adapt to novel situations without relying on others, and that I enjoy experiencing other cultures from within. This has inspired me to travel more and really immerse myself within the culture, and to improve my Spanish skills. It has encouraged me for future endeavors where I may be thrown into a new environment with new people, such as my eventual goal of medical school."
