Sarah's story

Sarah Park '25 interned at Bear Robotics, and the summer in Seoul opened up new experiences, and she got to view her work preferences from different perspectives.

My internship project was to design a mechanism to unload items from the robot base to the ground. The current robots do not have unloading capabilities, so the goal of this project was to create a proof-of-concept unloading feature for applications such as contactless food delivery. I conducted background research, ideated several potential working concepts, created physical and mathematical models to refine the design, coded the full unloading process, and completed a working prototype by the end of my 11-week internship.

"This was truly a life-changing experience for me. I was able to gain a whole new perspective from living and working in another country. Not only was I able to experience a field of work I'm interested in, but I also got to make meaningful connections with people, explore an amazing country, and learn so much about Korea and about myself. I enjoyed the experience so much that I'm now considering moving back to Korea to work after graduation, a possibility I never would've imagined before this summer."
