Materials Science and Engineering student Celestina Pint '27 interned at Universidad de IngenierĂa y TecnologĂa (UTEC) in the summer of 2025, working with a professor to develop cleaner cooking fuels for the Andean highlands, where the use of firewood leads to environmental and health risks.
"During this experience, I met numerous colleagues whom I hope to stay in touch with for a long time, including my professor, other UTEC students, and fellow MISTI students. I learned about a new technology that will serve my future studies as a Materials Scientist going into clean energy. I became more confident in my Spanish by conversing with colleagues and strangers. Lastly, I saw many beautiful sides of Peru's culture and landscape, and I hope to come back and see more sides of Peru soon."
