Demi's Story

Demi Fang '24, an Architecture grad student, went to University of Tokyo’s Kawaguchi Lab during the summer of 2022!

"I surveyed and interviewed practitioners to understand the state of sustainability in my field. I also interviewed key people to document a unique case study. [I] used my expertise in sustainability in structural design [during my internship]. I appreciated many aspects of Japanese society and could see myself going back for a short- or long-term stay."

"It is such a unique opportunity to be supported to live, work, or study abroad. It isn't always easy but it is an experience that can give you humbling perspectives about life in the US."
