"Yoto is a screen free audio speaker product that encourages children to focus on physical interactions with their toy. My main project with Yoto was to create a remote. The main Yoto player is a stationary speaker that kids can slot cards into to play audio. Kids can use the remote to interact with this player. My project consisted of researching, planning, and prototyping the device. I was able to apply plenty of class material to understanding how the Yoto audio toy works and the prototyping process. I also enjoyed connecting beyond my direct field of work, and I learned a lot more about different jobs needed to promote, manage, and support the system behind the Yoto player.
My time with Yoto has helped me shape my expectations for my future career. I have a better understanding of industry consumer products and their manufacturing process. While I was initially expecting to only focus on hardware, my interdisciplinary development experience has helped me understand how different fields of engineering interact to create a product."
