Win Win's story

Win Win Tjong '26, an electrical engineering and computer science major, went abroad for the first time, and he interned at ULVAC in Japan over the summer of 2025. This has opened his eyes to how limited his view was on the world, and he is very excited about the prospects of exploring the world.

"For my internship, I was assigned to work at their Advanced Technology Institute (ATI), which is their research and development department of the company. My project was to develop a control software for their programmable logic controller (PLC) used in one of their testbenches. Since I mentioned that I had no prior experience working with a PLC, they gave me training on how it works and walked me through their development process to help me understand it better. Since I had related experience to working with hardwares like PLC, I was able to write the software for the testbench."

"My project this summer helped me expand my skillsets working with programmable hardware as well as control systems, and I think this is useful in preparing me for a career as a hardware engineer in the future. Also, I was able to see a new part of this world I have yet to see, and the time I have spent this summer was equally productive and rewarding. I feel like I was able to grow as a person, and I would not have wanted to spend it any other way."
