Everyone needs a valid passport. Find out whether you need a visa to enter.

Passports

Every student needs a valid passport. The passport must be valid for six months after your departure date from Jordan.

If you are a US citizen and need to apply for, or renew your passport, routine service requires 4-6 weeks. If you need to renew your passport, you should do so ASAP.

Jordanian Visa

If you are staying in Jordan for more than one month, you must get a Jordanian visa in advance.

Processing for the visa takes about 5+ business days, not including mailing times. Leave ample time for mailing.

Even if you have a visa, If you are in Jordan for over one month you need to go the local police office to get an extension. There is a form that your host should give you, and we recommend that you do this process accompanied by a local friend or colleague.
