As hour away by car, Jerash features the ruins of Gerasa, Hadrian’s Arch, the Corinthian columns of the Temple of Artemis, and the huge Forum’s oval colonnade.

An ancient Roman city, Jerash is considered one of the best-preserved Roman provincial towns in the world. It boasts an unbroken chain of human occupation dating back more than 6,500 years and features both Graeco/Roman architecture and Arabic/Mediterranean influences.

Entry fee is 10 JD (as of January 2018). If you're also planning to go to Wadi Rum, Petra, and other major locations, then considering buying a Jordan Pass: a 50 JD government-mandated tourist pass that covers the visa fees and entrance fees into many major tourist attractions.

The easiest way to travel to Jerash is by Uber/Careem/Taxi. But be mindful, because Careem and Uber don't work in Jerash! Establish a roundtrip with your driver before travelling so that you don't get stranded!

Jerash is massive and easily takes 3-4 hours to walk through. Plan to get there earlier in the day so that you can have time to explore before the sun sets. Don't hang around the ancient ruins after the sun sets! The park officially closes at sunset.
