Internships
MISTI’s award-winning international internship program provides a one-of-a-kind, world-class experience for MIT students: the opportunity to gain real-life work experience in leading companies and labs around the world. Best of all, all expenses are paid, including airfare.
MISTI Netherlands matches students with leading companies, research labs, and universities in the Netherlands.
- Relevant experience (completed UROPs, internships, etc.)
- Minimum GPA of 4.0
- Mandatory Pre-Departure Preparation
- Study of Dutch language encouraged (we recommend Introduction to Dutch on FutureLearn)
- Letter of recommendation (in certain cases)
- Completion of a Dutch or European culture class encouraged

The following is a general schedule for our program:
- Informational on-campus events begin in September
- Complete the MISTI Application – by December 1, rolling thereafter until March 1
- Schedule official Interview with MIT-Netherlands – as soon as MISTI application is complete
- Commit to MIT-Netherlands Program – latest by March 15
- Internship matching process – September to March 15
- Mandatory Pre-Departure Sessions – April & May
- Complete mandatory final report - September 1
The Dutch Startups Internship program offers students an exciting opportunity to work with innovative new Dutch startups!
Our Startup Showcase event for summer 2026 is on Wednesday December 10th at 10:00am EST / 4:00pm CET over zoom. Register for the session here.

Informational meetings are available year-round. Contact program lead to schedule.
- Complete the MISTI Launchpad Application – December 1
- Schedule official Interview with Country Program Manager – September to December 1 (Schedule interview as soon as MISTI Launchpad Application is complete)
- Attend the “Startup Showcase” online event, in which Dutch startups pitch their internships to you - early December
- Apply through MISTI Netherlands Program to participating startup(s) - December 18
- Startup matching process & commitment to startup internship - February 15 to March 1, rolling thereafter
- Mandatory Pre-Departure Sessions – Mid-April to Late May
- Startup internship in the Netherlands – Summer 2025, minimum 10 weeks (12 strongly preferred)
- Complete internship final report - 1 September
The USA2Holland Internship Grant is open to Pell grant recipients who are currently enrolled in US higher education institutions who wish to intern in the Netherlands. The initial deadline is December 1, with a further deadline on February 1.
