Most MISTI internships take place over 10-12 weeks during the summer. However, internships are available year-round for up to 12 months.
Open to MIT undergrads, graduating seniors and graduate students in all disciplines
4.0 or better
Undergrads: Chinese IV or equivalent proficiency
Graduate students: no language requirement; basic Chinese strongly recommended
Undergrads: One class on Chinese culture, history or society
Graduate students: no prerequisites
Program expenses covered (includes airfare and a stipend to cover food and accommodation)
Once matched with a host, students must attend MISTI prep & training sessions and a checkout meeting with the program managing director.
Working in teams of three, CETI participants introduce curricula from OpenCourseWare, edX, MITx, online labs and develop labs at 14 universities spanning China, Hong Kong, and Taiwan. The teams also organize workshops on English resume writing and interview practice for Chinese students interested in applying to foreign graduate schools and multinational companies.

Once selected to participate, students must take course on China and attend MISTI and CETI organized preparation sessions on China and attend a checkout meeting with the program managin director.
