Passport
Every student needs a valid passport. If you are a US citizen and need to apply, please contact the passport division of the State Department. Routine service requires 4-6 weeks.
Visa
In most cases, students won't need a special visa to enter Mexico. if students are not US citizens and their US visa is valid no special visa is needed, however if US visa is expiring some countries do requires a visa to enter Mexico.
Work Permit
In Mexico, most students won't need a special work permit for an internship. Occasionally students at companies are required to have a work permit in addition to a letter of invitation. See your program manager to confirm.
