Cassidy '27, Artificial Intelligence and Decision Making, joined FOSS Analytical, a food and agriculture data analytics company, based in Hillerød, Denmark, located outside of Copenhagen. Cassidy felt that her internship in Denmark taught her skills she could use for the rest of her career.
"Topics from classes at MIT came up daily at my internship. I would have to interact with physicists, chemists, and data scientists daily, and my knowledge of data science from my major and physics and chemistry from GIR's helped me communicate with my coworkers, no matter their background. My internship helped me build skills in interdisciplinary teamwork and communication. I also had a lot of chances to become more comfortable with tools that are widely used in the tech industry that you may not learn about in class."
Beyond the office, Cassidy's experience allowed her to create relationships and have experiences that she wouldn't have had otherwise. "My favorite part of the summer was getting to experience new cultures and see parts of the world I had never been to before. I also really enjoyed my work, and I felt like I learned a lot and was challenged but still encouraged to invest in my personal life and growth."
