We had MIT South Asia | India’s Global Teaching Labs (GTL) program! Over IAP, MIT India interns spent three weeks at the NavGurukul Bangalore campuses. NavGurukul is a non-profit dedicated to bringing affordable tech education to underserved girls in India. Our interns were Mitali Chowdhury (Biological Engineering ‘24), Tian Lin (Theater Arts & EECS ‘23), and Abbie Schipper (Mechanical Engineering ‘24).

“Talking to the staff members of NavGurukul allowed me to gain an appreciation for the people making an impact on their community. This experience made me realize that education is more important to me than I originally thought. I've always thought of education as a way to change and expand peoples' perspectives and I didn't realize how true that fact was until I was in India. Education also opens the door to opportunities, opportunities to travel, to provide for one's family, and to chase one's dreams.” - Tian Lin (Theater Arts & EECS ‘23)

Check out these thoughtful reflections from our students who participated in MIT South Asia | India’s Global Teaching Labs (GTL) program!

Additionally, MIT students participated in a short term project, Communicating with Data with Professor Melissa Webster, at Infosys Limited in Bangalore! The students were Olo Abdulai (Chemical Engineering & Management ‘23), Alicia Caichen (Management ‘24), Kristen Lee (Business Analytics ‘25), Jack Minor (Management ‘25), and Shivali Singireddy (Business Analytics, Artificial Intelligence ‘25).

"I know for certain now that I want to do work with technology strategy consulting at some point, whether formally or informally. Additionally, I solidified some of my long-term career goals through my interest in system development and management in companies, which I experienced first-hand." - Jack Minor (Management ‘25)

“I was exposed to new ideas, innovation, and industries. Outside of our project, I experienced self-growth and self-discovery while learning about rich culture, trying new foods, making new friends, and visiting historical landmarks. Additionally, I learned valuable lessons about cross-cultural communication and teamwork, which can benefit me in future endeavors.” - Kristen Lee (Business Analytics ‘25)
