The GSF Application is now closed. Winners will be announced in early May. 

MIT-Lockheed Martin Switzerland Seed Fund

Through an annual call for proposals, the fund promotes the exchange between faculty and students at MIT and at universities and public research institutions in Switzerland.

Proposals will fit within Lockheed Martin’s Global Strategy to promote international, collaborative research focused on but not limited to:

  • Autonomy and Robotics
  • Sensor Technology and Exploitation
  • Signal Processing and Communications
  • Data Analytics
  • Materials and Manufacturing
  • Advanced Electronics
  • Human Systems Training
  • Energy and Power

 All general Global Seed Funds criteria, application, and evaluation procedures apply.

This year, special priority will be given to proposals in the following areas:

  • Advanced manufacturing and materials
  • Quantum information science (QIS)
    • Quantum computing
    • Quantum sensing
    • Quantum communications and cryptography
  • Sensor technologies (optical, acoustic, radar)
  • Information and communication technologies (ICT)
    • Heterogeneous communication networks
    • Application of software defined radios and cognitive radios
  • Autonomous systems and robotics
    • Human-machine and machine-machine interaction
    • UAVs (micro to mini) and UGVs
    • Integration of components
    • Swarming
    • Navigation in Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS)-denied areas
    • Efficient use of energy
  • Command and Control (C2), simulation and data science
    • Data fusion
    • Big data applications
    • Application of AI
    • High-performance computing
  • Nanotechnology
  • Microelectronics 

Further priority will be given to proposals that:

  • present a balanced exchange between the MIT and Swiss participants
  • demonstrate complementarity between the teams
  • involve undergraduate and graduate students
